Intern - Public Affairs

Job Summary and Scope

As a participant in the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Internship Program you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Human Resources. This role will rotate between the department assisting with projects in Public Affairs and Corporate Communications. The Internship Program provides exposure to senior leaders, structured assignments and events over 11 weeks in the Summer.

Job Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for the Public Affairs department as needed to include but not limited to developing/mailing/tracking internal and external correspondence, and the coordination of meetings and schedules Ensure all state lobbying and reports are filed to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations Monitoring and reporting on relevant state political meetings, policies, and trends for relevance to the organization Coordination of meetings with state-level elected officials and other high-level stakeholders Coordinating proactive legislative communication, as well as coordinating responses to legislative inquiries Coordinating communication between contract lobbyists and appropriate internal team members Update databases with critical information. Keep meeting minutes and action items and ensure follow up and completion Complete assigned ad hoc projects across the department as needed Assist with preparing materials for meetings and other communications

Rising College Senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher Superior analytical and critical thinking skills A strong work ethic, good judgment, and an ability to maintain total confidentiality and compliance with the professional responsibility rules for principals, lobbyists, and other government relations professionals Exceptional interpersonal skills and effective communication ability Efficiency with MS Office Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future Ability to demonstrate organizational and communication skills Sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail and quality Skilled in prioritization and project management Ability to excel in a multi-cultural, fast paced environment Strong interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills Internship Location and Dates

Availability for full-time work from June 1st – August 14th (date range flexible based on student availability)

Working conditions

Interns are classified as a temporary hourly employee with no benefits. Selected interns will attend an intern-specific Orientation on day one. During the initial start-up period and for the duration of the internship, the Cardinal Innovations Team:

Will have an opportunity to assess the intern’s experience and skills Will make every attempt to ensure that the on-site experience makes use of the intern’s learned skills and provides an opportunity for the intern to expand their skills into areas not yet studied. Will attempt to impart skills that are transferable to other employment settings, and Will provide routine feedback on approaches and work quality. Education and Work Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree candidate in related field
